Please read these Terms of Service (“Terms”) carefully before using Letter Chess.

Welcome to Letter Chess

Put simply: respect others, respect the law, and enjoy the puzzles.

The Letter Chess mobile application and related online services (collectively, the “Services”) are provided by Word Game Geeks Ltd (“we”, “us”, or “our”). By downloading, installing, accessing, or using the Services, you agree to these Terms and to our Privacy Policy, which is incorporated into these Terms.

If you do not agree, do not use the Services.

Summary of key points

• The Services are for personal, non-commercial use. The app may be free and ad-supported, with optional paid features.
• You must be at least 13 years old to use the Services (or have parental consent where required).
• Letter Chess, its design, and our content are owned by Word Game Geeks Ltd.
• User-created puzzles become the property of Word Game Geeks Ltd and may be removed or modified at our sole discretion.
• Profanity, offensive language, and other prohibited content are not allowed in usernames or puzzles.
• Advertisements may be shown via Google AdMob and other third-party ad networks unless you have an active subscription or purchase that removes ads.
• In-app purchases and subscriptions are billed through the Apple App Store or Google Play and are subject to their terms.
• We may suspend or terminate access to the Services if you violate these Terms.
• The Services are provided “as is” and our liability is limited to the extent permitted by law.

1. Eligibility

You must be at least 13 years of age to use the Services. If you are not of legal age to enter into a binding agreement in your jurisdiction, your parent or legal guardian must review and agree to these Terms on your behalf, and you may use the Services only with their consent and supervision.

By using the Services, you represent that you meet these requirements.

2. Your account and username

The Services may assign or generate a user identifier on your device. You may also choose a username or nickname that may be shown publicly with puzzles you create or activity you perform.

You agree that:

• you are responsible for activity associated with your use of the Services;
• you will not impersonate another person or misrepresent your affiliation;
• you will not sell, transfer, or share access to the Services in a way that violates these Terms;
• your username must comply with our content standards and must not contain profanity, slurs, hate speech, sexually explicit material, or other offensive or unlawful language.

We may change, reclaim, or remove usernames at any time, in our sole discretion, including when a username violates these Terms or is otherwise objectionable.

3. Ownership of the Services

As between you and Word Game Geeks Ltd, the Services and all content we provide (including software, design, text, graphics, logos, puzzles we create, and the overall look and feel of the app) are owned by Word Game Geeks Ltd or our licensors and are protected by intellectual property laws.

Subject to your compliance with these Terms, we grant you a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable license to access and use the Services for your personal, non-commercial use. No rights are granted except as expressly stated.

You agree not to:

• copy, modify, distribute, sell, or lease any part of the Services;
• reverse engineer or attempt to extract source code except where permitted by law;
• use bots, scrapers, or automated tools to access or collect data from the Services without our permission;
• use the Services to develop a competing product or service;
• circumvent security or access controls.

4. User-generated puzzles and content

4.1 Submission of puzzles

The Services may allow you to create, test, and submit puzzles (“User-Generated Puzzles” or “UGP”). You are solely responsible for the content you submit.

4.2 Ownership

By submitting a User-Generated Puzzle, you acknowledge and agree that the puzzle becomes the property of Word Game Geeks Ltd. You retain no ownership interest in submitted puzzles once they are accepted or published through the Services. Word Game Geeks Ltd may use, host, store, reproduce, modify, adapt, publish, translate, distribute, publicly display, promote, and otherwise exploit User-Generated Puzzles (and related metadata such as titles, categories, and preview images) in any manner and in any media, now known or later developed, without further notice or compensation to you.

4.3 License grant

To the extent any rights in User-Generated Puzzles do not automatically vest in Word Game Geeks Ltd, you grant us a worldwide, perpetual, irrevocable, royalty-free, transferable, sublicensable license to use your submissions as described above. This license survives termination of your use of the Services.

4.4 Removal and moderation

User-Generated Puzzles may be removed, hidden, edited, or otherwise modified by Word Game Geeks at our sole discretion, at any time, for any reason or no reason, without notice and without liability to you. You have no right to require removal of a submitted puzzle. Requests to remove content will be considered only where we choose to do so in our discretion.

We are not obligated to pre-screen User-Generated Puzzles, but we reserve the right to review, refuse, or remove any content that violates these Terms or that we find objectionable.

4.5 Content standards for puzzles and usernames

It is against these Terms to create puzzles or usernames that contain profanities, slurs, hate speech, sexually explicit material, harassment, threats, or other offensive, unlawful, or inappropriate language or content.

Without limiting the foregoing, you agree not to submit puzzles or usernames that:

• are unlawful, harmful, threatening, abusive, harassing, defamatory, vulgar, obscene, or hateful;
• promote violence, discrimination, or illegal activity;
• infringe intellectual property, privacy, or other rights of any person;
• contain personal information about another person without permission;
• are misleading, spam, or intended to disrupt the Services.

We reserve the right, at our sole discretion, to remove or modify any User-Generated Puzzle, username, rating, comment, or other content created by users, and to suspend or terminate access for users who violate these standards.

4.6 Representations

By submitting content, you represent that you have the right to submit it and that your submission does not violate any law or third-party rights.

5. Public activity and sharing

Certain information may be visible to other users or the public, including usernames, submitted puzzles, solve statistics, streaks, achievements, and shareable puzzle links. You understand that public information may be copied or used by others outside our control.

6. Acceptable use

You agree not to use the Services to:

• violate any applicable law or regulation;
• harm, exploit, or attempt to harm minors;
• interfere with or disrupt the Services or servers;
• upload malware or harmful code;
• collect information about other users without permission;
• submit false, misleading, or abusive reports to us.

We may establish limits on use of the Services (for example storage, submission frequency, or feature access) and may change those limits at any time.

7. Advertising

Letter Chess may display advertisements to support the free version of the Services. Ads may be served through Google AdMob and other third-party ad networks we may use from time to time.

Ad content is provided by third parties. We do not control which ads are shown and are not responsible for the content of third-party advertisements or any products or services they promote. Your interactions with ads (including any websites or apps you visit after tapping an ad) are between you and the advertiser.

If you purchase a subscription or other in-app product that includes ad removal, we will not show advertisements while that benefit is active, subject to the terms of the applicable purchase.

8. In-app purchases and subscriptions

The Services may offer optional in-app purchases or subscriptions (for example to remove advertisements or access premium content). Prices, features, and availability may vary by platform and region and may change from time to time.

8.1 Payment

All purchases and subscriptions are processed by the Apple App Store or Google Play store, not directly by Word Game Geeks Ltd. You must use the payment method accepted by the applicable store. By making a purchase, you agree to that store’s terms and conditions.

We do not store your full payment card details. We receive only the information needed to verify your purchase or subscription status and unlock the relevant features.

8.2 Subscriptions and automatic renewal

If you purchase a subscription, it may renew automatically at the end of each subscription period unless you cancel before the renewal date through your Apple or Google account settings. Your account will be charged within the period required by the applicable store (typically up to 24 hours before the next period begins).

The renewal price will generally be the same as the current period unless we notify you of a price change and you agree to continue, as required by the app store.

8.3 Managing and cancelling subscriptions

You can manage or cancel subscriptions at any time through your device’s account settings or the Apple App Store or Google Play subscription management pages. Cancellation takes effect at the end of the current paid period unless otherwise stated by the store.

If you cancel, you will usually retain access to subscriber features until the end of the period you have already paid for. Refunds are handled by Apple or Google under their policies; we do not provide refunds for unused portions of a subscription period except where required by law.

8.4 One-time purchases

One-time in-app purchases (if offered) are generally non-refundable except as required by applicable law or the app store’s refund policies.

8.5 Free trials and promotions

We may offer free trials or promotional pricing from time to time. Any such offer will be subject to the terms displayed at the time of sign-up and the rules of the applicable app store. If a free trial converts to a paid subscription, you will be charged when the trial ends unless you cancel beforehand.

9. Push notifications and device permissions

The Services may request permission to send push notifications (for example daily puzzle or streak reminders). You can disable notifications in your device settings. Standard data charges from your mobile provider may apply.

10. Third-party services

The Services rely on third-party platforms and providers (including Google Firebase, Google AdMob, other ad networks, and app store providers). Your use of those services may be subject to separate terms and privacy policies, including:

• Google Play Services
• Google AdMob
• Google Analytics for Firebase
• Apple Media Services Terms (on iOS)
• Google Play Terms of Service (on Android)

We are not responsible for third-party services.

11. Changes to the Services

We may modify, suspend, or discontinue any part of the Services at any time, with or without notice. We may also add or remove features, puzzles, or content. We are not liable if any part of the Services is unavailable at any time.

You agree to install updates we make available. We do not guarantee that the Services will remain compatible with every device or operating system version.

12. Termination

We may suspend or terminate your access to the Services at any time, with or without cause or notice, including if we believe you have violated these Terms. Upon termination, the license granted to you ends and you must stop using the Services.

Sections that by their nature should survive termination (including ownership, user content rights granted to us, disclaimers, and limitations of liability) will survive.

13. Disclaimer of warranties

THE SERVICES ARE PROVIDED ON AN “AS IS” AND “AS AVAILABLE” BASIS. TO THE FULLEST EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, WORD GAME GEEKS DISCLAIMS ALL WARRANTIES, WHETHER EXPRESS, IMPLIED, OR STATUTORY, INCLUDING IMPLIED WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, TITLE, AND NON-INFRINGEMENT.

WE DO NOT WARRANT THAT THE SERVICES WILL BE UNINTERRUPTED, ERROR-FREE, SECURE, OR FREE OF HARMFUL COMPONENTS, OR THAT USER-GENERATED PUZZLES OR OTHER USER CONTENT WILL BE ACCURATE, APPROPRIATE, OR SUITABLE FOR ANY PURPOSE.

14. Limitation of liability

TO THE FULLEST EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, WORD GAME GEEKS WILL NOT BE LIABLE FOR ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES, OR ANY LOSS OF PROFITS, DATA, GOODWILL, OR OTHER INTANGIBLE LOSSES, ARISING OUT OF OR RELATED TO YOUR USE OF OR INABILITY TO USE THE SERVICES, WHETHER BASED ON WARRANTY, CONTRACT, TORT, OR ANY OTHER LEGAL THEORY, EVEN IF WE HAVE BEEN ADVISED OF THE POSSIBILITY OF SUCH DAMAGES.

TO THE FULLEST EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, OUR TOTAL LIABILITY FOR ALL CLAIMS ARISING OUT OF OR RELATING TO THE SERVICES OR THESE TERMS WILL NOT EXCEED ONE HUNDRED U.S. DOLLARS (US$100) OR THE AMOUNT YOU PAID US IN THE TWELVE MONTHS BEFORE THE CLAIM, WHICHEVER IS GREATER.

Some jurisdictions do not allow certain disclaimers or limitations, so some of the above may not apply to you.

15. Indemnity

To the extent permitted by law, you agree to indemnify and hold harmless Word Game Geeks Ltd from claims, damages, losses, and expenses (including reasonable legal fees) arising out of your use of the Services, your User-Generated Puzzles, your username, or your violation of these Terms or any law or third-party right.

16. Feedback

If you send suggestions or feedback, you grant us the right to use it without restriction or compensation to you.

17. Governing law

These Terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales, without regard to conflict-of-law principles, except where mandatory local consumer protection laws in your country of residence require otherwise.

If you are a consumer, you may also have rights under the laws of the country where you live.

18. Changes to these Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. If we make material changes, we will post the updated Terms and revise the “Last updated” date above. Your continued use of the Services after changes become effective constitutes acceptance of the updated Terms.
